Happy New Year! I've been on Stage32 for a while and haven't really introduced myself or what I do.
Much of my work is as an orchestrator and conductor helping composers to create and record film scores, but I also consult in the music copyright infringement area.
More specifically, I help media composers and studios reduce the risk of musical plagiarism (real or perceived) when a composer is asked to emulate a temp score. I am also consulted when there is an allegation of infringement to provide an objective opinion based on formal musical analysis.
I find the intersection of music, law, and technology fascinating and full of challenges. I'm grateful for the relationships I've made along the way, and that I'm able to use my training to help composers and filmmakers attain their goals and stay focused on their creativity. It's an unusual career path, and not a field most people know exists, so I thought I'd mention it by way of introduction... I certainly enjoy it!
Wishing everyone a happy, healthy, and fulfilling year! Looking forward to meeting more of you in real life when it's safe to do so!
