About Joanne

Joanne Bellew has a fascination for all things spiritual. The multi-award-winning mother of two girls is an Australian feature and TV screenwriter in the drama, dramedy, comedy, and romantic comedy space. She is a team member of the Amendment 28 Films production company.

Her 2023 Page Award Silver winner UN VIOLON, a drama short, is currently in pre-production. UN VIOLON also reached #1 on Coverfly's 2023 Annual Red List for Family Shorts, and made Finalist in the Roadmap Writers 2023 Shorts Competition. Joanne's comedy feature RUDY'S CHRISTMAS REVENGE made the Blacklist Top List multiple times in 2022/23 and won various faith-based and comedy competitions. Her civil-rights drama feature THE BRACELETS made Top 10 in the 2021 Final Draft Big Break. Her romantic comedy feature MOJO reached Semi-Finalist at the 2023 Austin Film Festival. Her dramedy feature SAVING SIMON made Semi-Finalist in the American Zoetrope Competition, and her half-hour TV comedies WOODBURY (in the) GROUNDS and RAINTREE REHAB also received awards.

Joanne believes there is an unlikely or untapped hero in everyone and enjoys writing everyday stories of characters working through their brave, and/or sometimes comedic, paths to enlightenment.
