John P. Dowgin is a writer, director, actor, and co-founder of the production company ‘The Porch Room’. He is a co-creator of Porch Room's scripted adventure/comedy podcast “Mission: Rejected”, which consistently ranks in the top 25 comedy fiction podcasts in the US and UK (and is very much a cult favorite in the Republic of Moldova). His screenplays have earned finalist honors at the Austin Film Festival and ‘Top 50’ honors from the Nicholl Screenwriting Fellowship Competition. As a playwright, John contributed to the one-act compilation ‘Accidents Happen’ ,published by Concord Theatricals (formerly Samuel French) which has been performed on four continents. Other stage works include the science fiction one-act ‘Zebulon’s Calling’, which was performed by Sci-Fest LA on a slate alongside the works of Clive Barker and other legends. As a director, John created the short film ‘Prey’, which premiered at 2022’s NJ Web Fest, and helmed the New York premiere of the Porch Room’s original stage play ‘Antony & Cleopatra: Infinites Lives’. He lives in New Jersey with his wife, their two sons, and two disturbingly large cats.
