Nioka Workman

Nioka Workman- artist, producer, composer of electro-acoustic sound art, new music and Jazz. She has received numerous commissions for solo performances on electric, acoustic cellos. Nioka has created Music for Dance for choreographers; Maria Mitchell, Lauel Tentindo, Jennifer Chin, Alvin Ailey ll, and most currently for Leslie Parker, Marlies Yearby and the Joffrey Ballet. Nioka produces her own dance theater works: Walls (2011) Pillsbury Theater, Minn., Her Reflection ll (2009), Blue Heron Theater, Her Reflections l (2008) Rush Arts Gallery, NYC, Red Hot (2007), Bloomfield College, NJ. The Healer (2006), Lincoln Center Outdoors, Dragon Mistress (2005), Brooklyn Conservatory, Nobelessence (2004),Tenri Gallery. Nioka’s European tour include appearances at Sons d’ hiver, France and a Sony Music Tour . She has film/TV credits on Saturday Night Live (India Irie), PBS, Good Day New York and NBC.
