At age 40, and right at this moment (feeling depressed, unwanted, and rejected) trying to understand what is wrong with me, I NEEDED to read this. Thank you.

This is a network for you, built by you. Like most things in life, the more you participate, the greater the rewards. We ask all new members pay it forward and invite at least 5 fellow creatives and to spread the word of Stage 32 through other social media sites such as Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter. You can also invite fellow creatives through the site by using the "Send Stage 32 Invites..." button on the upper right side of your profile. The more creatives, the stronger the network. The stronger the network, the more opportunities. Thanks for joining the movement and for being a part of this most talented and inspiring community. Part of that reason was dealing with depression from moving away from so many friends, and part of it was my waiting tables job was not producing much income. I felt like I was going backwards. Then, a hurtful relationship with a woman a put way too much of myself into only to get discarded out of thin air, and next thing I knew, I was in an abyss of despair and self doubt. Ugh. I am fighting my way out of this, and I see how difficult of a climb back it is. The pretty good habits I had 5 years ago versus the bad habits that I have become accustomed to have been the biggest challenge. "Before we can start winning, we need to stop losing." That is a quote that rings so true. In any case, I am NOT giving up.

Expand commentWow. Yeah. Welcome to life, right? I'm watching a show right now called 'The Killing.' In it, the Mayor-elect ends up depressed and attempts suicide by jumping off a bridge. He realizes "on the way down" that there is so much more to life he doesn't want to miss. During the final rally before the election he says to attendees, "We've all been there. Every single one of us has wanted to give up. We've been down. Which means there is an up. I choose the up for all of you." That really resonated with me because he was right. We've all been where you are and if we haven't, we're on our way there now. The beautiful thing is that you've chosen to fight the storm and slay the beasts. You're on your way up. I admire that. My best to you. xoxo

Thank you for that! I have often thought to myself that "the comeback" will be all that more fulfilling. Rising from the ashes can in many ways be more of an accomplishment than never being tested at all.
