Ryan Graaff was born in Pretoria, South Africa in 1993. He began studying music at the age of 12 and developed a keen interest for film scoring after watching the 1956 motion picture “Lust For Life” with music composed by Miklós Rózsa, who became one of his biggest influences alongside John Williams, Rachel Portman and Brain Tyler.
At 17, Ryan began writing music for stage and became popular amongst theatre companies for his musicals. After graduating from the University of South Africa with a BMus Composition/Ethnomusicology, Ryan began scoring both local and international films as well as adverts and further, more adult, theatre pieces.
