This Lüscher grew up in Zurich and devoted his youth to the consumption of films and the study of music at the Jazz school in Zurich. At the age of 23 he moved from Zurich to Amsterdam, studied directing at the Dutch Film Academy, was granted Dutch citizenship and became a father of a son. In 1998 the dual-citizen completed his studies with the award-winning music film «Off Beat» for which he also composed the complete jazz score. After working as a music composer for film for more than 30 shorts and commercials and having recorded two soundtracks for family music and Sony music, Lüscher decided to leave his music career behind in favour of his passion for being a storyteller and film director.

After various works for the film and television industry in the Netherlands, Lüscher's work shifted more and more towards Switzerland, where he directed his first feature film «Ferienfieber» in 2004 and where he has been living again since the birth of the first of his two daughters in 2012. He made five short films, including the multi award-winning football fairy tale «AlpTraum» and directed 50 episodes of the Swiss television youth series «Best Friends». At the same time he discovered his love for documentaries, which resulted in him making the multiple nominated feature sports documentary «Hoselupf – oder wie man ein böser wird», as well as three documentaries for the art channel of the Swiss television SRF.

In 2015 This Lüscher's last feature film, the tragicomedy «Rider Jack», won the Best Actor Award for Wolfram Berger in Montreal. A nomination for the CH Film Prize for the best male role followed in March 2016. In 2017 he went on a comically dark trip with the makers of the the 6th season of the internationally well-known crime series «The undertaker», where he directed three episodes.

In the same year he produced the teenage multi-genre feature «The Real Thing» for Presence Production GmbH which premiered at the Neuchâtel International Fantastic Film Festival in 2017. He is currently producing the puppet short film «Mos Reise» by Julian M. Grünthal and Charlotte Engelbert, the feature «Aminata» by Swiss/Senegalese young talent Djibril Vuille, completely set in Dakar, and a 70-part trans-media Instagram youth series by Ralph Etter which he also co-writes.

Lüscher's trademarks are light-footed and yet profound films on social topics, identities, but also often sports and art. – In his current feature documentary «The Art of Magic», which is still under development, these themes all come together.
