From my end I like many of these so it's a tough call, but think @Daniel LoBrace's Piggy & Kermit idea is still my 1st choice for this exercise.

(PS from Amanda's email it does seem as though there's some fluidity to whether we're all pitching something or whether we rep as a group but either way we'll be prepared!)

Katharine Clark Gray that's so super organised! Thanks :) So I suppose we should get pitching in on your doc and eventually 'voting'. Although she did say people could pitch their own thing it seems we should have 1 (more or less) consensus idea to put forward.

Rebecca Cremona Yep I think the right idea is to stay prepped for either eventuality. :) So we'll have some sort of group conversation and consensus to show for ourselves, but that shouldn't stop people from being able to put their own pitch forward if called on in Saturday's class. Thanks all!

Looks like you guys are well on your way with pitches/ideas. Most of the groups are planning on doing one main pitch for the group, but are coming planned with other pitches in their pocket if they get called on. Hope this helps you guys zone in on your idea for your main pitch and backup pitches if called on.

So - to be clear - we're supposed to be Zooming with each other to work on a collective "Garfield goes to the moon" or whatever pitch? Is that right? I think I had thought we were all coming up with our own, but in reading Amanda's recent note, it looks like maybe we should be working together.... Hit me up at k@uncomp.ninja & maybe we can still schedule something? Dunno about the group but I have a window this evening after 6pm, and tomorrow very flexibly.

I'm down for a Zoom brainstorm sesh, but for those in the group who don't have a flexible schedule... maybe we could also start a thread where we each give 2-4 ideas, then we all vote on which we think would be the best to pitch during class? (And no voting for your own ideas, of course) Just a thought- I'm up for whatever works best for everyone!

Yeah, it's a bit late in the metaphorical day for a whole call probably... Maybe the smart play is just to start an open Google doc? Probably a little more malleable than this chat thread. We can comment and upvote and tweak easier here....

Martin, the OSS Society website had a direct request to the archives for any service recrods. I already requested the archives but I just submited another request through the website. Would you know if the resonse is quicker?

Great input Stephen. It's the finding the Exec's that is the hard part. How do you get that connection?

There's some good pitch sessions here in Stage 32. I have learned that it's all about the protagonist and why we should care about them. If your script and pitch helps explain that - you should be in good shape.

Thanks Lindsay, I so agree about needing to care about the protagonist. I can't like a movie if I don't care about what happens to the protagonist. My script is a triumph over evil true story about my neighbor.

It is important to remember that movies are meant to tell a great Story, not to sell products or put across a Message. Did you see the recent movie about a young attorney who struggles to take on a chemical company over their damage to the soil and the health of a farm community? Didn't see it myself but took notice of the plot since my sister has been a long-time activist against the DuPont Company in Iowa.

Did you read my article? This more or less has to do with mineral deficiency and replacing the minerals that have been washed away from the soil over the years due to erosion and rain runoff. Organic doesn't even address this issue. It is a chemical imbalance in our soil caused by lack of minerals.

And yes some people do see this as advocacy for a "product" but essentially it's advocating for more natural ways (the ocean) of farming that get rid of the very chemicals we actually need. Have you noticed these plants are bug attracters? Because the plant calls out to them since they are dying. It's an important subject that can help us grow more nutrient dense crops.

It will be an uphill battle against Big Ag but at least I got nature on my side.

I hope you do eventually make a movie out of this because we have no future if we continue approaching agriculture with a totally incorrect paradigm. Many diseases stem from chronic nutritional deficiencies. If you ever need someone to talk to about trauma/healing you can reach out to me. I have overcome my own ptsd and helped others heal from many serious mental issues in short periods of time. You can be healed I assure you. God bless.
