Lindsay Aichinger's Lounge Discussions

Let's vote. Seems like there are some ties. Will someone please organize...

I thought that everyone's ideas were very creative in their own way. That's why I will agree to whatever the majority of you want.

Should we vote for the project we will pitch later today & the project we will be working on for the next two classes?

What's your opinion?

Thanks,

According to the Google doc, there's a few ties. I'm not sure everyone voted.

Choosing the Group Pitch

Hi all, has everyone who wanted to put forward a pitch done so on the shared doc Katharine Clark Gray prepared (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1YUQ-TP2WrPSVba1IZgBoFJpKM7nIMFtNGryf...)?

From my understanding of AJZ's email and Amanda T's comment below, we should decide which one is our 'group ch...

Sounds like a plan Lindsay Aichinger

From my end I like many of these so it's a tough call, but think @Daniel LoBrace's Piggy & Kermit idea is still my 1st choice for this exercise.

Daniel LoBrace

My vote goes to 6.A by Lindsay Aichinger

Lindsay Aichinger

Daniel LoBrace I like your princess idea... Princesses save their own Kingdoms - 2B! That's my vote!

Katharine Clark Gray

Yeah, I'll throw my vote over to Daniel's Piggy & Kermit as well. I'll tabulate them on the Google doc as well

Getting group homework started

Hello team 3 :)

Just checking in about the teamwork aspect of the homework, as per AMZ's email yesterday:

"Come up with a few pitch ideas with your teams for hypothetical series — à la Fred Flintstone moves to Beverly Hills and becomes a serial killer OR Alice in Wonderland starts trafficking halluc...

(PS from Amanda's email it does seem as though there's some fluidity to whether we're all pitching something or whether we rep as a group but either way we'll be prepared!)

Katharine Clark Gray that's so super organised! Thanks :) So I suppose we should get pitching in on your doc and eventually 'voting'. Although she did say people could pitch their own thing it seems w...

I will be on the road at 7, so I'm casting my vote (my two votes) now. Either 1. Jordan Jaff's C or 2. Daniel LoBrace's B.

Group 3 lounge - where y'at?

Hi! I'm interested in which of us in Amanda Johnson-Zetterstrom's group is part of Group 3. I'll start - I'm Katharine Clark Gray (I go by Katie) - longtime screenwriter, most recently podcast writer, looking to learn more about TV structure. I'm in Brooklyn. Who else?

Debra Holland

Hi, everyone! I'm in Orange County CA. I write books and have adapted a few into screenplays. Wanting to adapt my bestselling series into a tv streaming series. Looking forward to connecting with you all!

So - to be clear - we're supposed to be Zooming with each other to work on a collective "Garfield goes to the moon" or whatever pitch? Is that right? I think I had thought we were all coming up with o...

Pilots

Hey guys! I'm here to learn about structure too! I know we have to work on pitching our own pilot next week so I thought I would throw in my two pilots that I am developing. My background is chemical engineering.

Character Development for WWII Military Movie

In know this is a bit broad, but I'm writing a memoir based on my father's WWII experience.

Confused as hell

I need help from my fellow writers. My aunt stopped by (social distancing) to say hello and she gave me a belated bday gift (fifty bucks) I tried to decline and she insisted I use it to further my writing career since writing make me happy.

Great input Stephen. It's the finding the Exec's that is the hard part. How do you get that connection?

Lindsay Aichinger

There's some good pitch sessions here in Stage 32. I have learned that it's all about the protagonist and why we should care about them. If your script and pitch helps explain that - you should be in good shape.

Janet Torreano Pound

Thanks Lindsay, I so agree about needing to care about the protagonist. I can't like a movie if I don't care about what happens to the protagonist. My script is a triumph over evil true story about my neighbor.

Janet Torreano Pound

thanks Stephen this is SO helpful

Uncorked

Really happy about my brother Datari Turner's production. It was released on Netflix on March 27, this film was selected in SXSW but do to the CoronaVirus this screening and the festival was cancelled. The film is doing well on Netflix on the top ten for it's first week. This film is brilliant watch it and rate it please.

Lou Di Giorgio

Well done!

Kim Wang

Very cool. Will check out this film on Netflix.

Cab Bolton

It's in my play list.

Pamela Segger

Looking forward to it!

This is so great! I've been to a few of Datari's events! I can't wait to see this!
