About Peter

Peter Devonald is a multi award-winning scriptwriter and producer, operating in both the creative and corporate fields. His intelligent, tightly-structured writing has underpinned shorts, features, TV and online series. His work has shown in over 120 film festivals, including in competition at Venice, Angers, Encounters, Foyle, L.A and BFI London. Awards include a Bafta nomination, Gold Remi, Best Drama New York, Best Short CYIFF, Best Film Branchage and Best Film Kyiv Molodist.

His latest short film, Picture Perfect, produced by Rebecca Knapp (Frozen, Popcorn), won a Gold Remi award at the 47th WorldFest Houston International Film Festival for Best Dramatic Original Short, Best Short 4th Peleponnesian Corinthian International Film Festival “Bridges” Award by CINE@ART, Best Short Film Cyprus International Film Festival, Best Director award Kharkov Lilac Film Festival and Best Film Mestre Film Festival - Venice Event Academy.

GirlLikeMe, a film Peter co-produced, Film London funded and DoP Robbie Ryan, premiered at the Venice International Film Festival. It has won 3 Awards, 1 Jury Special Mention, 5 nominations including Best British Film and European Film, screened 26 International Fests. Awards include Best Film Kyiv Molodist, Best Film 8th Wood Green Festival and Branchage “Cutting Hedge” Best Film.

In an extensive career Peter has written scripts which have won Best Drama New York Independent Film & Video (.357), Judges Award R.I, Holloway Arts (Beggar’s Belief), Main Jury Prize Wood Green Film Festival (:-)), Finalist Virgin Media Shorts (screened 212 cinemas for a year) and Finalist (final 5) Talent Circle Super Shorts (The Calling). He was also one of the writers on ‘Those Scurvy Rascals’ (Entara Ltd/ Blue-Zoo) which was Bafta nominated and winner best Children's Series and Children's Choice 10th British Animation Awards.

Peter was the senior judge and mentor for the Peter Ustinov Award (iemmys, New York, 2003-2006). He participated on the steering Committee for Reel Health Stories (UCL) - Judged by David Morrissey and Ken Loach (2009-2010). He was also chair of Reel Islington (2009-2011), and is still on the committee.

Peter has placed in numerous awards including The Times /National Academy of Writing, Helium List, BSSC (Kaos Films), Coppola's American Zoetrope and Spacey’s TriggerStreet. He has script edited award winning films, commissioned for adverts and promos, and worked under retainer with different production companies including MEM PLC, Tangent and MTV. He has had several features optioned.
