Shortly after graduating from Chapman University with a BFA in Theatre Performance and a BA in Film Production, Mallie McCown was signed by Parallel Entertainment as a comedy writer and performer and worked as part of their premiere sketch team from 2012-2015. She then worked as a staff writer for Adolescent Inc., developing various short-form shows for web content. In 2016, Mallie wrote and starred in her first independent short, Fired, which was nominated for Best Comedy in the Hollyshorts Film Festival, Hollyweb Festival, and the Austin Comedy Short Film Festival. She then received her Masters from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Classical Shakespearean Text and Performance and remained in the UK to work a residency as an actor at Shakespeare's Globe in London. Most recently she wrote, starred in, and directed a horror-comedy short which was nominated in the Hollywood Comedy Shorts Festival and also took home the Audience Choice award at The Women in Horror Film Festival in February 2020. The Writing Desk is her first feature.
