Flávia Ruiz was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and currently lives in Europe (Porto, Portugal). Having started a creative life still in childhood, by getting involved in writing and acting in school, she later went to Drama School (working as an actor in two plays). She also took a bachelor's degree in Journalism from UFRJ (one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in Brazil), having had several jobs as writer, reporter, columnist and editor, while all along also studying and producing creative writing.
In 2010, won a literary award for a short story, Meeting With a Dead Friend, from O Globo - the biggest newspaper in the country. In 2018, Ruiz had a novel published, Baptism, having great reviews for that work. Over the years, missing the art of writing for actors, and having a passion for movies and tv, she started to focus more and more on the craft of screenwriting. In 2019, Flávia Ruiz was a semi-finalist in an American screenplay competition for comedy short-screenplays.
