At his ten-year school reunion, a man confronts long-buried trauma and unresolved feelings for his high school crush, a reunion that forces him to face the truth about his past, his identity, and his chance at self-acceptance and love.
SYNOPSIS:
Chicken is a poignant exploration of love, trauma, and the complexities of identity, set against the backdrop of a ten-year school reunion. Tom Chase, now in his late twenties, returns to his old school carrying the emotional scars of his past, including a forbidden connection with his schoolmate, Jason Morgan. What begins as a casual night of reminiscing quickly spirals into an emotional reckoning as Tom is forced to confront not only his feelings for Jason, but also the dark memories of abuse and self-denial that have haunted him for years.
Through a series of flashbacks, the film traces Tom’s internal struggle as a closeted young man navigating the pressures of his upbringing and society's expectations. Jason, confident and comfortable in his own sexuality, represents both a reminder of the past and a possible path toward healing. As their shared history comes to light, Tom must decide whether to embrace the love and understanding Jason offers, or continue running from the pain that has controlled him for so long.
Chicken delves deep into the emotional challenges faced by LGBTQ+ individuals in reconciling their identities, while offering a moving portrait of love, acceptance, and the courage it takes to break free from the weight of trauma.
