About Steve

Steve Wilburn graduated with honors from Columbia College in 1988, with a Bachelors Degree in Film and Video Production.

After graduation, Steve served as a sound engineer for Zenith/db Sound working on dozens of feature films (Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer, Music Box, God’s Will, Blood Harvest, The Borrower, Perfect Model, City of Men, War Zones, etc) , also numerous documentaries, film shorts, and hundreds of commercials.

Working as a freelancer: associate producer on Butch Camp, in 1996 and went on to work on Ali and The Newton Boys and more. In 2000, Steve served as a producer on Convergence With Angels, which was voted best American "Dogma" film ever made.
In 1997, Steve turned to screenwriting and many of his screenplays have been finalists in screenwriting competitions. In November of 2010 one of his screenplays was the winner of the Chicago Advanced Screenwriter’s Group Screenwriting contest. In 2014 Steve was named one of the “Top 16 Emerging Screenwriters” in a contest conducted by The International Screenwriter’s Association.

From 1999 until 2008 Steve was a board member of the Chicago Screenwriters Network, leading meetings, screenplay discussions, and providing screenplay feedback. (Member from 1996 to present)

In 2009, Steve opened his own independent production company, Windy City Images, assembling the best filmmakers in the Midwest to make top quality films. With Windy City Images, Steve is currently working on a slate of films in various stages of production; many of which are being filmed in the Midwest.
