Matilde Carreón García-Bedoya

Matilde Carreón, a Peruvian writer and screenwriter, has overcome adversity and embraced multiculturalism from an early age.
With a degree in Philosophy and nearly a decade of experience in creative writing, she is currently about to complete a Master's in Writing for Script and Screen at Falmouth University.
Her work delves into the uncanny aspects of human nature, exploring existential crises, dangerous obsessions, and unsolved mysteries. Spanning genres such as drama, horror, suspense, and dark comedy, her writing focuses on mind-bending thrillers and horror. Matilde excels at exploring the human psyche, crafting complex narratives and characters that are often different, strange, or outcasts, fighting against stigmas, and struggling in an unwelcoming world.
To hone her skills, Matilde has pursued extensive screenwriting training, studying in countries such as Cuba (EICTV) and Spain (ICM), and completing online diplomas within the Latin American community.
Her work was recognized in screenwriting and storytelling competitions, including winning a short film script competition at the Calcutta International Cult Film Festival and first place in the STORYPLACE Mental Health Story Contest. She also secured second place in the LATINX 2023 Screenplay Treatment Competition and twice reached the semifinals in the SERIES CONCEPT category of ABC Guionistas, among other festival selections. She has also ventured into acting and directing, earning a spot in the finals of Lift Off Global Network's First Time Filmmaker Session for her debut short film.
Additionally, her experience as a creative writer and scriptwriter with advertising agencies and Peruvian production companies has strengthened her creative vision.
With a solid background in philosophy, psychology, and literature, Matilde possesses a unique perspective in storytelling, establishing her as a rising voice in the industry.
