Zandré is responsible for the keeping the Nouvanaand and Nagvlug content hub on track. Not only does she make sure that each idea gets what it needs to be pitch ready but she also facilitates and negotiates these deals. She is an avid participant in writers rooms and a skilled mediator in the production process.
Earlier in her career Zandré was appointed at Urban Brew Studios, one of South Africa’s premier production houses. During her employment there, she quickly climbed from working in the production environment on productions such as Die Foon, Ambush and Cold Sweat to assisting in conceptualising new format ideas. She was awarded innovation champion at this company, which enabled her to participate in the innovation think tank for Kagiso Media representing Urban Brew in the Innovation Seed Fund Project.
In 2012 Zandré co-founded Lucky Bamboo Media (Pty) Ltd for the purpose of creating and producing her own formats. Lucky Bamboo Media got commissioned to conceptualise and produce a youth drama for kykNET, the Afrikaans channel on South Africa’s premium satellite broadcaster. Soon after completing this project Zandré started Nouvanaand Films with Scharl van der Merwe and Johan Cronje.
Since its establishment in 2011, Nouvanaand has created a number of cutting edge and award-winning productions for kykNET. These include the youth drama series Sterlopers, for which they received a Tempo Award for TV series of the year in 2015. Their first feature Wonderlus, premiered at Silwerskermfees 2017 and has since been selected to 7 International film festivals in the US, UK and Netherlands, including numerous nominations and awards.
Nouvanaand has continued to develop content in various formats like short film, mocumentary, sitcom, satire in actuality, made for TV film and the list goes on. They’ve been nominated for 6 SAFTAs in 2019 for projects they have developed and produced, including Wonderlus, Hotel, Hartstog and Die Maan Val Bewusteloos.
Nagvlug Films is a joint venture between two dynamic young film companies - Cape Town-based Paper Jet Films and Johannesburg-based Nouvanaand Films. The company is a pooling of resources and expertise, with a focus on producing narrative content for the South African and international market. Nagvlug is a registered entity that serves as an independent production arm which combines the concepts, resources and skills of PaperJet and Nouvanaand Films into a one-stop-production company.Their first venture as a company is Skemerdans, a 13 episode drama series currently in development for kykNET (channel 144 on dsTV). Nagvlug recently received slate funding from the NFVF to develop and produce 9 feature films. Nagvlug’s wide range of expertise includes the development, production, post-production and casting of award-winning narrative content for the South African film and television market, with a special focus on serving the stories of minority audiences and creators. They strive to create platforms for emerging talent through collaboration and mentorship of up-and-coming writers, directors and crew and have serviced the writing, directing and casting of award-winning local productions.
