About Colleen

Now in my 70s, I trained as an actor in 2004/5 before performing for several years in community theatre. This led to an interest in writing plays and I had several short plays performed as part of the annual Sydney Short & Sweet Festival.
In 2020, I completed a playwriting/screenwriting course at the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) in Sydney. I have used Stage 32 script services many times while developing my Timeslip/Fantasy/Young Adult/Coming of Age screenplay. The feedback from these script services was very valuable, and certainly helped me to reach the quarterfinals of the Screencraft screenplay competition. This screenplay is set in the Victorian (Australian) goldfields, and timeslips between 1853 and 1983. I am looking for a producer/director who would be interested in filming it on location in the town of Maldon, Victoria, an historic town which looks probably the same as it did in the 1800s.
Currently, I am also working on a limited series based on a high profile crime that happened in Australia more than 60 years ago. I am looking for a producer/director who would be interested in developing it. This also reached the quarterfinals of the Screencraft Pilot competition.
For me, it is about the writing, and while it would be wonderful to have a project produced on stage or screen, writing is just a terrific pastime to have in retirement.
I am currently based in Glasgow, Scotland, but my home is in Sydney and I will be returning there next year.
