About Austen

It's hard not to be romantic about storytelling. Writing began for me as a compulsion, morphed into a routine, and has since become a passion. I believe that the success of a story ultimately falls not on its setting, plot, or themes, but its characters and their choices. It's a craft that can be as rigorous and technical as building a car or an airplane by hand, from scratch, but it's also a joyous act of play where suddenly, the writer is a kid doing make-believe out in the yard again.
