About Natalie

With 20 years of experience across feature films, documentaries, series, reality shows, and international TV commercials, I am a passionate and boundary-pushing filmmaker driven by stories that matter. My latest feature, Sum of All Things Lost, is a thrilling and emotionally layered narrative that examines identity, resilience, and the unseen costs of survival, set against a backdrop that merges suspense with deep cultural roots. My feature documentary, 30 Frames, currently in development, has received funding from the NFVF and GFC.

As the founder of Rise and Shine Films, I blend commercial and auteur filmmaking to create work that is both critically acclaimed and commercially viable. I have a track record of distributing niche, genre-driven films that achieve international sales success, even with smaller budgets and emerging talent. Drawing from extensive experience shooting across the African continent, my projects focus on authentic representation and uplifting local voices, while striving to make meaningful connections across borders.

Selected Filmography:
Gangster's Paradise: Jerusalema (2005) - Unit Production Manager
Triomf (2008) - Co-Producer
The Cursed Ones (2015) - Producer
Low Rider (2022) - Co-Producer - A co-production with Boudica Entertainment UK

Unique traits: I am a courageous and boundary-pushing filmmaker with a unique ability to blend commercial appeal with deep artistic meaning. My work focuses on authentic representation, telling culturally rich stories that resonate globally, while uplifting local voices. I have extensive experience shooting across diverse regions in Africa, which brings a genuine perspective to my storytelling and allows me to challenge conventional narratives with bold, unflinching honesty.
