Aminah Salaam

Since childhood, Aminah Salaam has always had a strong third eye and connection with Film & TV. As a Teenager she took part in an after school program where she took her first role as Director. Here she also wrote her first Screenplay and this was the beginning of many. While attending Howard University she majored in Radio-TV-Film and begun creating her own Music Videos, and Short Films.

At the turn of Social Media which is also when she graduated from College, Aminah designed, developed and spearheaded a Video Department being built from the ground up in a faceless industry. This was literally one of the first Major Radio Stations to have a Visual presence established online due to Aminah's innovative thinking and solution driven personality. She also created opportunities for existing employees to gain additional income and taught them a new skill through Video Production. Aminah also attended the Allan Houston Foundation’s Entrepreneurship program, where she developed the tools to create her own Business.

In 2007 she created Abstrak Vision, a Production company where one of the initial goals was to help upcoming artists and local Businesses flourish in gentrified areas, by providing them with quality promotional Videos. A few years later Abstrak Vision began creating original stories, which was always Aminah's life long dream, that caught the attention of the local community of NYC.

Giving back is Aminah’s mission! Therefore in 2011 she created her educational sector of her business called AV University. Here she teaches Production and responsible Social Media Skills to help NYC youth build self-esteem while learning marketable skills. From there she became a certified Teacher and gained a graduate degree in Special Education.

The proud daughter of a mother with southern roots and a Father who ventured to America from Honduras, she projects an engaging authentic voice! Her highest accomplishment is teaching her energetic and insightful daughter, that there are no limits to how great she can be!

Wearing so many hats as a Mother, Teacher, Entrepreneur and Community Builder, Aminah spends a majority of her time helping others to reach their highest selves. Although she would not trade this way of life and character trait for anything, it is time for Aminah's own light to shine as well.
