About Rinaldo

Graduated from the Scuola del Piccolo Teatro di Milano, under the artistic direction of Giorgio Strehler, he works in several productions with the maestro: Faust, Arlecchino servitore di due padroni and a study on The Seagull by Anton Chekhov.
He then moves to Rome and later to Paris where he continues an acting career which leads him to working with several film directors such as Robert Wilson, Patrice Chéreau and Patrice Leconte among many others. His career in television includes the title role in Joseph (Emmy winner for Outstanding Miniseries) and Brian Fuller’s Hannibal for NBC USA.

In 2004 he collaborates at his first screenplay La Spettatrice (The Spectator) (by Paolo Franchi).
The film was selected in competition at TriBeCa Film Festival and was among the finalists for the David di Donatello awards and had a nomination for the Nastri d'Argento.

Awards:
- Italian Golden Globe’s best film.
- Best film and Best Screenplay at the Syracuse Film Festival N.Y.
- Best film at the Bergamo Film Meeting
- Best film at the Festival International du film de Mons
- Best film at the Screenwriting Festival of Grosseto.

In 2012 he writes the screenplay E la chiamano estate (And they call it summer) (by Paolo Franchi).
The film was selected in competition at Festival del Cinema di Roma, under Marco Muller’s direction and wins the Marc'Aurelio d'Oro Award for Best Direction and Isabella Ferrari the award as Best Leading Actress. The film is sold worldwide somehow becoming a cinematic sensation.

In 2017 he writes his third screenplay with Paolo Franchi for his latest film Dove non ho mai abitato (Where I’ve never lived) with Fabrizio Gifuni and Emmanuelle Devos. The film is enthusiastically welcomed by the film critic and more so by the audience, whose affluence to the movie theatres kept the film up for screening for more than 8 months.
He was also selected in competition at International Shanghai Film Festival and obtained the Mention Spéciale du Festival at Les rencontres du cinema Italien à Toulouse.

In 2018 he writes two screenplays in the USA for the indie film director Harry Mavromichalis: Dancing Girls and American Bittern, now both in pre-production.
