About Mariam

The eldest daughter of Ivorian-Muslim parents and the older sister of two younger siblings. During the peak of COVID, Mariam lost her senior year of high school but found clarity in the direction she wanted to take for her future: filmmaking. That pivotal moment gave her the space to reflect and commit to telling stories that carry a part of her within them. As a woman and someone who champions the voices of Black, African, Muslim, and other women of color, her goal is to elevate women-driven stories across genres. Through her work, she explore themes of identity, nostalgia, mental health, generational trauma, and the dynamics of friendship, family, romance, and heartbreak.

She has experience in screenwriting a number of shorts, a feature, a pilot, and continues to write daily with the countless of ideas that pop into her head.

Her film production experience is thanks to the non-profit organizational film programs that cater to unrepresented youths in NYC.
