Mute, Chinese vigilante Cassandra Cain takes in fellow orphans with dark pasts to create a new team of heroes to combat the string of super-villains that have been plaguing Gotham City.

SYNOPSIS:

Cassandra Cain, a Chinese ex-assassin on the run from her past, impresses the Gotham crime-fighters enough to be offered the mantle of the new Batgirl. Given her own territory and mission, Cassandra dedicates herself to protecting the people of Gotham City to make up for her crimes. Soon after, she takes in Mia Dearden, an ex-child prostitute, and Charlotte Gage-Radcliffe, a recently orphaned metahuman. Batgirl, Misfit, and Catgirl fight together against the vigilante-slaying Onomatopoeia and the child-kidnapping Dollmaker as their dark pasts creep ever closer and threaten to consume everything that they have come to love. Along the way, our cast of Orphans grows to include the many other young heroes created through tragedy in Gotham City.
