Luis Rubén is an award-winning author, speaker, and producer who is making philanthropy go viral. In 2012, Luis Ruben launched his academic writing career, working for Harvard Medical School and The Gottman Institute. In 2015, he was elected as a co-chair of the Human Rights Campaign and as a member of the board of directors of Integral Care for his role as a game-changer and influencer in the capital of Texas.
More recently he launched the global marketing firm, Olympeum® to connect the hundreds of underrepresented business owners across Europe and Latin America. To date, Olympeum has represented minority-owned businesses in 12 major cities across the world, in an effort to provide marketing strategy, public relations, and media representation.
At the age of 21, Luis Rubén was inspired to make a difference in the world. After studying marketing management as president of DECA and behavioral neuroscience at St. Edwards University, he began his career in public relations. For 3 years, Luis Rubén helped establish the foundation for the public relations and fund development arm of Equality Texas.
Wanting to pay forward what he learned from his time in public relations, Luis Rubén began sharing his experiences in foundations and the world's largest corporations including Facebook and Dell. During this time, Luis Rubén recognized the world was changing its view on human rights and joined HRC's team as a membership outreach co-chair to help recruit members to join the historic battle against anti-human rights legislation in the USA.
After starting his first company, the Umbrella Firm with the goal of sharing wisdom on public relations, the president-elect of Integral Care took notice of Luis Ruben's talent and chose him to be the co-chairman of the Speakers Bureau. During his tenure, he aided in the development and allocation of over $50 million in grants and capital projects to provide housing, mental health care, and job assistance to over 29 million residents of Texas.
He has been invited to be the keynote speaker for sessions about public service, harnessing collaboration, and driving change in New York City, Los Angeles, Shanghai, and Mexico City.
Among his awards is the American Legion Award, Kelley Brumbelow Award nominee, the HRC Award for Outstanding Steering Committee, and the President’s Education Awards for Outstanding Academic Excellence.
Luis Rubén continues to partner with publishers, broadcasters, and organizations to create impactful content that promotes underrepresented storytelling and inspires global audiences.
