Anna Capunay is a Queens, NY native who began her foray into playwriting under Richard Caliban’s tutelage at the Gotham Writer’s Workshop. Anna realized she had a natural propensity for comedic writing which has resulted in highly praised staged readings of the dark comedies, By the Short Hairs and Cat’s Tale at the Puerto Rican Traveling Theatre, both directed by Rick Mowat. Anna has expanded her theatrical exploration to include directing, studying under Daniel Talbott at Primary Stages/ Einhorn School of the Performing Arts and helming the premiere of Meghan Mostyn-Brown’s short play, Forever is a Long Time, at the Seventh Street Small Stage. She is a member of the Dramatists Guild and of the Queens Council on the Arts ‘ Emerging Leaders Circle. Her first workshop play, Cowl Girl, was performed in April 2013.
