Shairi is an award-winning playwright and contracted Virtual Reality screenwriter (Moth+Flame). Her work has been shared by The Public Theatre (NYC), La Jolla Playhouse, The Old Globe, Diversionary Theatre, Oculus Headsets and Zoom. Shairi was a 2020 New York Stage and Film Artist-in-Residence and a 2020-21 Writers Guild Foundation Veterans Writing Project Fellow. Shairi was chosen by Tony Kushner as the 2019 Arts in the Armed Forces Bridge Award recipient. She was nominated for the 2021 Barrie and Bernice Stavis Emerging Playwright Award by Christopher Ashley, (Tony Award winning) Artistic Director of La Jolla Playhouse. She is currently a Program Coordinator for the WGF’s Veterans Writing Program and an artist-in-residence with VAR (Veteran Artist Residencies) working on her first book.
