BIOGRAPHY: ABUBAKAR MWENDA
I'm an Independent Filmmaker, Writer,Creative Director, Actor ,Voice Over Artist and Producer. I’ve so far written 3 Full length stage plays.2 Feature Films and 10 Short Films.I've been involved as a writer in Radio Drama series like Ushikwapo Shikamana, Kati Yetu and Maisha ni Bambam and T.v Drama Series including Makutano Junction,The Team,Chini ya Mnazi and currently Maria. I've produced 3 of my short films; Ghetto hustler, Rat a baby race and Macho Makavu,which have been showcased locally and in International Film festivals. I’m also a Professional Actor and featured in over 20 stage productions. Feautered in T.v drama series like Makutano Junction, Wingu la Moto,Shika pata potea, Kona and Chini ya Mnazi. I’ve been involved in over 10 Local and International feature films like BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY, BACKLASH, FROM A WHISPER, THE FIRST GRADER, KILLER NECKLACE,NAIROBI HALF LIFE and recently in SUBIRA. I have also worked with different Organizations as an Actor, writer and director on productions focusing on Society attitude's, Environmental change and sustainability, Children rights and Tradition and Culture. I enjoy working with kids, youths and local communities at large. I’ve been training youths on Theatre and Film productions at the Shanzu good hope children’s center Mombasa and Mathare home for the homeless children’s center in Nairobi. I’m presently working as a Freelance Artist and Creative Consultant with different production companies and Organizations.
