Tumelo Tladi

Tumelo is a screenwriter and filmmaker known for her work as co-writer and 1st assistant director on the independent film Map of Brooklyn (2020).

After a decade on the corporate side of entertainment media as a specialist, she attended Long Island University in Brooklyn, New York, where she obtained a Master of Fine Arts in Writing and Producing for Television, before moving to Los Angeles to pursue filmmaking. She comes with ten years' experience in digital, print and broadcast media in South Africa, and five years in television (writing and production) in the United States and in South Africa. She's completed several samples, including a screenplay, a short film, two web series and various television pilot scripts, one of which was partially produced.

Tumelo’s also written on South African soapie drama series Muvhango in her capacity as script intern and interim script coordinator, during her brief time with the show. Her industry experience also includes associate story producing on unscripted competition series The Challenge: Double Agents (2020), The Challenge: All Stars (2021) and The Challenge: Spies, Lies & Allies (2021).

Tumelo holds a Bachelor's in Journalism with Photojournalism as one of her electives, and is an experienced stills photographer, with a particular focus on landscape and nature photography.
