As a final project, in their last year of business school, five university students create an online channel calling to task the environmental and social impact of several prominent clothing corporations. Originally in it for a grade, the students get more than they bargained for when the project takes on a life of its own as stocks tumble, reputations are ruined, lives are at stake, and an unexpected leader emerges.

When the conflict over an oil pipeline comes to a head, Alice, a woman still coping with the loss of her son, finds herself in the middle of her blood relatives, who are entrenched in the oil business, and the extended indigenous family of her childhood, whose land is at risk. Before the shovels hit the ground and the truth of two, mysterious, cold-case disappearances come to light, Alice is going to have to make some tough choices, resulting in her life and others’ being changed forever.
