About Francis

Hello,
I'm new to this field of writing, very green indeed, but determined to turn those fresh leafy rookie greens into an amazing career adventure of success-- yes of course success, but more importantly, self fulfillment.

I grew up north of Boston, in a city called Lynn. While coming of age in Lynn, it had (has) a well known reputation for violent crime, gang violence and activity (of literally every demographic there is), drugs; all the racy delinquent behavior glorified, sensationalized by the news, and also, with some leg to stand on, the pop culture of the 90's I grew up in. Was (is) the city's reputation accurate? Maybe. Now, it has it's good parts too, a revitalizing downtown spearheaded by an updated auditorium, restaurants covering almost the whole cultural spectrum and family owned coffee shops. And it's also know for being the only city to claim having both a protected beach and reserved woods. So sure, it has a reputation to some extent. But what urban area with a dense population, outside a major US city, was not laden with these issues in the 90's, especially when amplified by the crack epidemic then followed by decades of its opioid variant.

Thankfully, I survived, unscathed by all of this, through street smarts, book smarts, playing organized sports, reading comic books, writing of all types (minus screenwriting lol) and my parents, who were the rocks, the foundation, every kid needs to be stabilized, allowing me to build my own moral compass.

To say the least, I knew I always needed to get out of Lynn, if I was going to live a long, healthy, fulfilling life. And I have. I don't regret one moment of my life there. With all of what makes up its questionable reputation, it's a hard working class city with a diversity closely reflecting what NYC has, at much smaller sample. Being exposed to so many different economic classes, cultures and religions, certainly kept me from developing a sheltered mind and perspective. All this escorting my belief: there is no one way to do things the right, just and fair way in this country, this world, and in the end I believe, allows me the benefit to be a well rounded writer. Having seen and experienced such a diversity in life, I like to utilize this perspective in my work.
