GAIA EFFECT

     GAIA, the Earth's consciousness, is rapidly changing and wants to force humans to take notice. In this world, some few people "forget who they are" and become PREDATORS or PRAY and stay in PRIMAL STATE. Two brothers must team up to get out of town and survive the GAIA EFFECT.

SYNOPSIS:

In the near future, nature, Gaia, already shows signs of dissatisfaction with the human race. In addition to animal behaviors, humans now experience collective headaches. Peter, a young photographer, witnesses a friend go into a PRIMAL state, like an animal “prey” and an uncontrollable fear of any HUMAN face. Peter tries to help him until MEN IN BLACK takes him by force, this group is led by RUI, an unscrupulous businessman who wants to profit from this anomaly. Peter finds the help of his brother Leo and his sister-in-law Sonia, 8 months pregnant, the two anthropologists. Together, they go to an indigenous village to investigate people's new behavior and there they are given bottles of a tea that serve as protection.

The Gaia Effect happens all over the world, only a few people are still aware, as Leo and Sonia were since they had already taken the protective tea. Virtually all the people in the city are gone, leaving literally a few people in a PRIMAL state. Peter had not had the tea and starts to have a PRIMAL behavior of a "prey". He has no memory of who he was, the human face becomes a real threat to him. In need of shelter, he has to relearn how to climb a ladder, turn a door latch and know how to defend himself. Leo and Sonia are safe, but knowing the dangers of staying in the city, they decide to find Peter so they can escape. Rui is also in a PRIMAL state, he is a "predator", the most lethal of all, even more so after learning to use a firearm. Ana was in the field and is also in a state of "prey", she runs to the LIGHT of the city and ends up crossing her path with Rui, the danger only increases. Ana manages to escape and take shelter. Peter confronts another hunter and almost dies, his brother Leo manages to call him, and with a song familiar to both of them, the song makes Peter regain his memory and consciousness. Ana is hungry and ends up putting medicine in her mouth, she passes out, luckily Peter finds her and takes care of her. Leo and Sonia drive around town to try to find Peter. Rui is still loose and armed, people have no chance of surviving when they cross his path.

Peter is safe with Ana, who remains a "prey". Leo and Sonia head through town in search of Peter. They play the music loudly to try to find him. Rui follows his trail of killings and also finds shelter. Peter and Ana end up meeting Leo and Sonia. Ready to leave town, Sonia ends up giving birth to the baby, right there in the car. Staying on the street is very dangerous and Rui approaches and shoots. Leo catches Rui's attention so he can take the focus off the car with his family. Ana instinctively does the same and attracts Rui to pursue her. Peter is already in love with Ana and runs to her protection, when confronting Rui, Peter is unable to shoot. When he is going to be killed, Ana appears and saves him, they leave Rui unconscious and take shelter in a building under construction. In a final fight, Rui chases them there and ends up being defeated with the help of several dogs that appear to help. Leo and Sonia rescue Ana and Peter, they are about to leave the city, but before that they find some buses with people who resisted and are saving others. Peter is reunited with his friend among the people. As they leave the empty city, several animals come occupying it. We see that there is another dimension when animals and buses pass by, so we see some people who watch all the movement as if they were frozen in time, they cannot be seen, but they see everything that happened.
