Kat Magill

Kat Magill is a 2x National Poetry Slam finalist, HBO Def Jam Poet, Creator of the Poetic Film: The Myth. Kat has featured on HBO, Current TV, Politicon, and for the United Nations.

I am new to the film industry, releasing my first film in 2019. I have been a writer for over 15 years but I wanted to bring poetry to life beyond stage performances or documentaries about slam. As an educator for 10 years I always have taught my students to push the boundaries and I believe in practicing what I preach. I released the first fully narrated poetry film and I was enthralled to witness packed out theaters in Los Angeles with audiences hungry for something different.

I was touring the film when the pandemic hit but continued to write and create. I believe in art as resistance, as a way to make real change. I am excited to dive into more challenging projects and hope to network with financeers and production houses that believe in pushing the envelope of what is possible when different mediums of art meets.
