When a hopelessly optimistic TV news anchor joyfully tries to change the style of the TV news show he just started hosting, the skeptical co-anchor sabotages his efforts until they both realize they can make the news better if they work together.
SYNOPSIS:
We open on Paul as he bids farewell to his small town news job and beams excitement over returning
home and following in his father's footsteps. However, when Paul returns home, he finds his dejected
mother still mourning over the loss of his father and a jealous and conniving anchor who wants to
see him disappear. Regarded for his kind and upbeat demeanor, Paul is quickly loved and admired
by his colleagues and viewers but begins to find his job depressing as his boss pushes for more
gruesome tales to be told. With his boss, Randy, convinced that horror sells and hellbent on increasing
viewership, he instructs Paul to continue reporting on these unsavory stories and we watch Paul
began to slip into a more melancholic mood with each passing day. Determined to change this
depiction and practice, he decides to create a positive news channel to be held on the companies
social media page and enlists the help of Kelly in order to turn it into a reality. As Vanity, his co-anchor,
continues to become more jealous of his success, she makes more attempts to undermine him and
create obstacles, fearing she'll be lost in his orbit. As the online segments continue to gain popularity,
her attempts increase until she uses Paul's only ally, Kelly, to do her bidding by giving her a gruesome
story of her own to report on. To Paul's dismay, the story is a hit and Randy wants Kelly to report on it
again, leading Paul to go against his boss and pull the segment. While they all reel over this decision,
Mindy is attacked and Paul's actions are made to blame as Kelly's report included information that
could've saved Mindy from being in a position to be attacked. Now dejected, Paul takes a leave of
absence to wallow but Mindy finds only positive outcomes for the ordeal and credits their online show
for helping her, leading Paul back to the show
