The reserved heir to a bourbon fortune, his flamboyant ex-police detective husband and their corgi dog stumble upon murder mysteries in all the fabulous places they visit to promote the family bourbon. Using their impressive skills of observation and logic, the couple help solve the crimes, while trying to keep their involvement under wraps.

SYNOPSIS:

All of Louisville's high society is on hand for the Louisville Rescue Dog Foundation Gala, hosted by DIRK and CHARLIE BOURBON at their Proof Positive Bourbon Distillery. As Dirk and Charlie interact with their guests, we meet FRANCESCA BOURBON, Dirk's mother, and the founder of Proof Positive Bourbon, who is promoting her new dog leash line, and TYLER, the president of the foundation. Tyler is the object of affection for BELINDA, a foundation board member, who is jealous of Tyler and LAUREN’S, the treasurer for the foundation, friendship. DETECTIVE MAX RILEY, a Louisville police detective and one of Dirk's oldest friends is on hand for security. FRANK WATERS shows up with commemorate plates, but Lauren’s not happy with how late they are or how much they cost. The final member of the foundation board to arrive is VICTORIA SUMMERS, who cannot count Lauren among one of her fans. The gala is a huge success, but the next morning Charlie and Lilibet discover Lauren dead in the park.

Detective Max hopes this case will be his chance to finally make lead detective. When Dirk, Charlie and Lillibet stop by to give their condolences to Lauren’s husband, HERMAN, Charlie turns it into an interrogation and learn Herman was having an affair with Victoria.

Charlie shares the information he learned about Herman and Victoria with Detective Max, who then tells the Chief. The Chief thinks Max found out the information himself and is impressed. Charlie and Frank question Frank about an altercation at the gala. It turns out Frank was stealing from the foundation. While questioning Frank at the distillery, Max gets a phone call saying that the gemstones found in Lauren’s wounds were only known to belong to Francesca.

Max asks Francesca about the gemstones and finds out she uses them for her dog leashes. Charlie plans a party for Lilibet’s birthday, but Dirk runs late at work and almost misses it. When Max stops by he lets the guys and Julie know that the Chief is taking him seriously as a contender for lead detective. Julie and Max flirt. Dirk and Charlie stop by the police station to drop something off for the Chief. While they are there, Max is notified that Tyler was the last person to talk with Lauren on the phone before she died.

Dirk and Charlie join Max when he goes to see Tyler for questioning. To Max’s dismay, Dirk and Charlie take over the questioning and find out Lauren came to see Tyler after she found out Herman and Victoria were having an affair. It also turns out Tyler won a Francesca dog leash at he gala, but she gave it to Belinda. After leaving Tyler’s the guys run into Belinda. Lilibet sneezes like she did when she and Charlie found Lauren’s body. Charlie puts everything together that Belinda, wrongly thinking Lauren and Tyler were having an affair, killed Lauren. Belinda confesses. While celebrating their success in solving the case, Francesca tells Dirk she does not want him involved in any more murder cases. Charlie and Max have secretly talked about working together since Charlie enjoyed doing the work he loved. We wonder what future adventures might await the charismatic Bourbon Boys in the next episode.
