John Washburn

I’m a Brooklyn based writer/director who focuses on stories that draw out the quirky core of characters to reveal the authentic seams of relationships and how power imbalances affect the choices we make.

After starting my career in recording studios and touring as a musician, including a stint on a major label, I worked as a creative at many of the top ad agencies in NYC before going on write and direct commercials and content for brands such as Google, including a pan African campaign last year.

My shorts have screened and been awarded internationally and my screenplays have placed at major competitions, including the Nicholl, Austin Film Festival and top 25 at Roadmap.
