I am a born and bred NYC performing artist. The first American in my family, I had the full Caribbean immigrant kid experience that so many New York Dominicans have. I worked my way up in the dance and music ranks - performed on every stage and studio in the city and Tri-state area as a soloist, a company member, in choirs, ensembles, student teams, as a session singer, vocal arranger, eventually started choreographing, etc... I have toured and taught (music and dance) nationally and abroad.
I have recently added author, editor, publisher titles to my creative repertoire, and am working on multi-genre works of fiction and children's books.
I have lived a life and have a voice/story that I rarely, if ever see represented in media - and there are so many people like me all over the world. I am very interested in creating relatable, fun, uplifting, hope-filled, and educational/cultural content - with depth and authenticity.
I am hoping to connect with / build with other passionate creatives here.
Unique traits: Super creative, tenacious, resourceful, and energetic. Every country that I have traveled to has tried to claim me as one of their own... I was singing a French song at a a Jewish cultural center in Forest Hills, Queens once and afterward a woman in the audience was adamantly asking me where in Paris I was from and when I was flying back...I told her multiple times that I was not French, that I was from NY, but she would not believe me -- said I didn't need to be ashamed to be Parisian.. It didn't help that I was responding to her in French! lolol The same thing happened in Aruba - I happen to understand Papiamento because I speak 2 of the languages in that mix! Italy, same thing! Indians and Persians always ask me where in their country I am from, and Brazilians and Ethiopians claim me too. lolol
