Jarred spent his youth bouncing around the outer suburbs of Sydney in rented homes as the family tried in vain to fake their way into the upper class. His expulsion from one of the largest private schools in the country gave him the chance to attend a performing arts school instead; changing everything.
Before eventually returning to further education at Sydney Film School (where he directed four short films in two years, winning 9 awards and having the films accepted into over twenty film festivals from the US to Europe to Asia and back), he spent a decade as a comedian, poker player, travel agent, Amsterdam tour guide, wine rep, short story writer and music journalist.
