Rodrick Wimberly began his career in the entertainment industry at age 10 where he starred in the Emmy-award winning film, “The Marva Collins Story.” Rodrick has worked with some of the most exceptional professionals in the industry: his film acting credits include work with Morgan Freeman, Cicely Tyson, Paul Winfield, Ving Rhames, Glynn Turman, Giancarlo Esposito, Ned Beatty, Kadeem Hardison, and Danny Aiello to name a few. Rodrick has also worked with notable directors, including Peter Levin and the trailblazing Stan Lathan. His career has included featured roles in acclaimed stage plays in Chicago theater, including at the renowned Victory Gardens Theater with such theater legends as writer Eric Carter and director Chuck Smith. Rodrick appeared and starred in independent and short films in Chicago and Boston, Massachusetts as well as a host of nationwide commercials for multinational corporations such as Coca-Cola and McDonalds.
Despite his acting talents and success, Rodrick had always envisioned a career in the law. After graduating magna cum laude from Boston University, he received his Juris Doctorate degree in 1995, has been a practicing attorney in Chicago for over 25 years and is currently the managing partner of his own firm, the Lakeshore East Law Group LLC. Rodrick has now shifted his practice to entertainment law, taking his knowledge of intellectual property, contract, labor, and securities law, to advise filmmakers on all aspects of the industry from conception to distribution. Rodrick is also a founding member of 2Chi Entertainment LLC, an independent film production company located in Chicago, Illinois. In addition to collaborating with other Chicago filmmakers, Rodrick produced the musical documentary, “The Woodstock of House,” and the independent short thriller, “Uh-Oh.” Rodrick is currently in pre-production on several projects, including feature films, television series, and documentaries.
