When I was a teen, I wanted to be a screenwriter, but instead I followed in my father's footsteps and pursued becoming a pilot. While majoring in aviation, I got an ROTC college scholarship and became an army officer upon graduation. I served active duty for eight years as a military intelligence officer, and then I got out and thoroughly immersed myself in motherhood--my greatest calling! When my youngest child started school, I pursued my love of real estate and became a certified residential real estate appraiser.
During the COVID quarantines, I wrote a scene for my youngest daughter’s acting reel and both my teenage girls loved it. They encouraged me to write more, so in keeping with my love for mystieris and comedy and my passion for connecting with, guiding and encouraging kids through humor, I wrote a YA/Mystery/Comedy mixed genre feature length screenplay. The characters and setting are inspired by my family, friends and the elegant, southern, lakefront area we live in north of Charlotte, NC. My girls and I thought it would be fun to make the film version, so we did as a family project. I served as writer, producer, director and more and took it from development through distribution. It was briefly available on streaming platforms, but I removed it when I decided I'd like to remake it at a higher professional quality level.
Since then, I've been growing vastly in my writing and have dived into producing. My screenplay has since been featured in "The Best of Stage 32's Lookbook!" I recently re-titled it "Magnolias, Mulligans & Murder" since it's changed so much.
I'm grateful for this journey and all the people that support and guide me along the way. I desire to be a blessing right back to them. My officer, mother and appraiser experience is serving me well in my new film endeavors.
