Tom is a writer and director who recently co wrote and directed Vaillante, a drama miniseries commissioned by UNICEF. Tom studied Environmental Science at Nelson Mandela University in South Africa, where he first became interested in storytelling through photography and film as a means to communicate complex environmental and social issues. In 2017, after honing his filmmaking and storytelling skills in the film industry in Ireland, he joined Rooftop Productions in South Africa and began directing multiple award-winning short films, commercials, and documentaries for the likes of UNICEF, World Health Organisation, and the Food and Agricultural Organisation. For over ten years he has collaborated with his writing and directing partner and brother, James Collins. Together they have travelled to over 20 countries, exploring some of the most remote and extreme environments, telling stories of human suffering, resilience, and hope.
