Hi! My name is Aylin (Eye-lin). I love pitching film scripts, but pitching myself is a little harder to do. So here are five quick things about me and my work. In, out, nobody gets hurt, and you get all the highlights.
.) I first started my career with my eyes on news broadcasting. I wanted to be a news reporter, because at the time, I believed that genuine facts were the foundation of a successful democracy. I still believe that today, but after working as a reporter for NPR for two years while a student at Purdue University, then moving on to SiriusXM in Washington D.C. to intern for Joe Madison, I hit a passion bump. That's when I decided to turn my factual story telling, into creative story telling.
.) I'm currently pursuing my Master's degree in Creative Producing at DePaul University in Chicago. I love everything about it. Analyzing and editing film scripts, composing budget sheets, hiring crew members, casting promising actors, creating pitch decks, writing coverage, spending HOURS on set, and keeping a sharp eye on trending topics in the filmmaking industry is always exciting to me.
.) I've spent the last six months as a development intern for Myriad Pictures (remotely) in Los Angeles. I learned so much during that time, and thank everyone there for being great mentors. Along with that, I've been a story analyst for a year-round screenwriting competition. Reading scripts and working with writers on how to elevate their characters' development is something I truly enjoy, and also benefit from as it helps with my own projects I'm currently writing.
.) I'm a member of SAG-AFTRA, something I take a lot of pride in as it sets the standards for a healthy work environment on set. Also, voting for the SAG Awards and getting those free streamers is a bonus.
.) My idol, for as long as I can remember, has always been Lucille Ball. She said she never perceived herself as a talented actress, but she was definitely the hardest working. I try my best to emulate her work ethic in everything I do.
