About Mirtha

I'm a Cuban-American indie writer/director/producer. My latest film (2nd feature), The Human Solution, is now on Amazon Prime. It was awarded the 2021 ReFrame stamp for gender parity in filmmaking. Seeking to connect with fellow artists in the indie world to help me set cast and crew for my new project which will shoot in spring 2023. Location TBD. Particularly interested in supporting women behind the camera, but certainly open to anyone with talent and passion.

Live in NorCal but can relocate anywhere in the world.

Currently also seeking a lit manager to represent me as a writer/director. Have several specs available: one horror, one murder mystery, and a TV pilot. See below for loglines.

Unique traits: I speak eight languages and am open to shooting anywhere in the world.

  • The Human Solution

    The Human Solution
Film by Mirtha Vega (BaeBat LLC) Writer/director/producer To prevent those found to be flawed by mental disabilities, bad genes, "undesirable" hereditary taint, or exhibiting unacceptable social tendencies (such as overt promiscuity) from reproducing, Sweden had as many as 60,000 of its own citizens sterilized, primarily between 1935 and 1955 - sometimes involuntarily. Nearly 95% of these were women. These chilling words appear at the beginning of the feature, THE HUMAN SOLUTION. Based on historical facts and set in 1938-1953 Sweden, this fictional story is a harrowing family drama that explores eugenics through the eyes of a Swedish doctor, August Persson, who performed the procedures. When his estranged wife dies in childbirth, leaving behind a half-Roma baby girl, August's life is turned upside down by his decision to raise her himself. (On Amazon Prime)

  • Tryst

    Tryst
Film by Mirtha Vega Writer/director/producer A sexy "neo-noir" thriller, leading the audience in a stylish exploration of betrayal, desire and dominion. Definitely not your usual afternoon affair! Rex Miller is the master of his universe. At fifty, he is attractive, fit, and supremely virile businessman. He's also wealthy, married, and well-connected. He has a sexy mistress that he intends to spend the rest of his life with, and a grown son he's devoted to in his own way. The two lovers meet for their own special kind of "relaxation," then all hell breaks loose in the next room. Suddenly, their luxurious hideaway, once meant to be a retreat from the outside world, becomes a prison. And what's worse: there's no escape in sight...
