About Michael

Michael Salort began his writing career as an award-winning journalist - producing and writing long-form investigative news magazine pieces for NBC's Dateline, ABC's 20/20, and Twentieth Television.

Michael Salort was introduced to the film/ TV business when he was one of the winners of the Cinestory feature competition. Soon after his CineStory win, Michael co-wrote a movie adaptation of a novel, The Reincarnation, for Sanford/Pillsbury Productions (Desperately Seeking Susan, And The Band Played On), and wrote one of the first high-budget, web series called In Men We Trust, which aired on Women's Entertainment Television and was nominated for an Emmy. At the same time, Michael's winning entry in the CineStory competition, a feature-length, English-language political thriller titled Hidden Camera was bought, produced, and distributed by DrimTim of Barcelona, Spain and Marvista in LA. The $3 million dollar MOW was distributed globally.

Since then, Michael has optioned and sold other TV projects and has ghostwritten features, novels and pilots for independent producers such as actor Michael Imperioli (The Sopranos, White Lotus). Flowing from his work running Tyra Banks' production company, Michael ghostwrote her novel, Modelland, and negotiated its publication with Random House. The book, which reached the New York Times Bestseller List, is the inspiration for an American-Girl-Doll-style installation in Santa Monica and is the basis for a Modelland feature film in the works at Universal. Most recently, Michael sold the holiday feature, The Masked Santa, to Hallmark that is preparing for a production start in 2024, and sold a crime drama TV series titled HAMMER to Hirt Films.

Michael is currently promoting his TV series,INSIDE DOPE, is promoting a biopic titled TO WHAT END, and is working on a comedy feature with Sally Says Films. Michael is also the chief executive and founder of Symbiotic Pictures, a company that produces scripted entertainment for global brands.
