Pilot Episode - (Present day: Silicon Valley).

KATE EKLUND, 20, is the deep, dark and impatient leader of the Solarpunks. (like Chloë Grace Moretz’s character, Flynne Fisher, in THE PERIPHERAL.) Kate is also an off-the-charts brilliant clean-energy designer. At 18 Kate became NASA’s youngest astronaut recruit ever. But then a mandatory DNA test blew-up her life by revealing she’s an alien-hybrid.

On the run from black-hat hard-ass, Agent Thorpe, Kate locates and brings together five more alien-hybrids. They call themselves: SOLARPUNKS, and they’re intent to discover who created them and why?

The pilot episode opens on BEN ROSHAN. He’s 20 and has no idea he’s an alien-hybrid or that the Ancestry DNA test he submitted has alerted Agent Thorpe, and the Solarpunks, to his existence. Unlike Kate, Ben is easy-going & whimsical. He can re-engineer just about anything into something new & marvelous.

The Solarpunks rescue Ben from Agent Thorpe. Ben discovers they’re all brilliant like him, plus, they each have a unique meta-ability which is almost super-human.

An interstellar message leads the Solarpunks to meet the probe sent to guide them. Thorpe intercepts them and nearly destroys the probe as it arrives. The Solarpunks escape with the damaged probe, but the only way to rescue the sentient A.I. Messenger inside is for Kate to allow the A.I. to upload into her brain. The process nearly kills her and won't last long before it kills both of them. The A.I. voice in Kate’s mind names herself, "Hope". Hope reveals the countdown to humanity’s annihilation has been initiated by an alliance of worlds intent on protecting Earth, from humankind. Hope explains, the Solarpunks were bioengineered by the Delphinians, humanity's distant ancestors. The Solarpunks must work in secret to find a way to guide humankind to demonstrate its ability to live sustainably with Earth, before it’s too late.

With Kate's & Hope's time together running out, Kate, Hope and Ben track down the long lost Delphinian ship being held on the Air Force base where Ben’s Dad is stationed. It’s their only chance to safely extract Hope from Kate's mind and send her home. They succeed and also find an ally in Air Base Commander, General Schafer, who vows to help them anonymously save the world.

LOOKING FORWARD - The Series Arc chases the question: Can the Solarpunks inspire humanity to begin demonstrating it can live sustainably with Earth, before it’s too late? Yes. Starting with guiding people to "#BeChange". A simple idea which grows into a global movement.

Lead characters of the SOLARPUNKS ensemble:

Kate Eklund, 20, is the deep, dark & impatient leader of the Solarpunks. Growing-up, Kate’s adoptive parents were success-driven and only paid attention to her when she achieved something great, like when she became NASA’s youngest astronaut recruit. A year ago, a mandatory DNA test blew-up Kate’s life by revealing she had extraterrestrial DNA. She barely escaped black-hat hard-ass, Agent Thorpe of Project Eclipse. Thorpe has been hunting the Solarpunks ever since.

Ben Roshan, 20, is an awkward genius, adopted by loving East Indian/American parents who live in Silicon Valley. Ben’s Mother is a Pediatrician. His Father is an Air Force Engineer. Ben is on his way to becoming a Futurist Engineer. He’s exceptional at re-configuring existing devices into something better, and at improvising his way out of the mischief he gets himself into. Ben reminds me of Justin Long’s lovable uber-nerd character, Brandon, in GALAXY QUEST. Since Ben was a kid, he’s tagged along with his father to the air base to help out, got into lots of mischief, and made friends with the Commanding Officer, General Schafer.

Why Me - Growing-up an artist in a big family of serious thinkers. I didn’t fit-in, so I relied on my imagination to create fun and mayhem. I guess you could call Fun & Mayhem my brand. I write Heartfelt Dramedies about misfits, for Series & Features, about the moment of becoming who you were always meant to be. I set-out on my own at 17. My adventures, including two summers as an amateur stock car driver, led me to Art School.

I became the Lead Graphic Designer for Alan Rudolph's EQUINOX, (starring Matthew Modine), then the Coen Brothers’ FARGO and THE BIG LEBOWSKI. I transitioned into screenwriting, trained with Blake Snyder and then Jen Grisanti, and became an Amazon Studios Best Screenplay Competition Semi-Finalist. Was short-listed in both the NBC and ABC TV Writers Showcases. Top Ten Finalist in Roadmap Writers Top Tier Competition, 2021. And much more...

2021 ScreenCraft Sci-Fi & Fantasy Screenwriting Competition Judge's Feedback -

"Overall, this was a great read, and I found it engaging and creative throughout. You have done a good job establishing a lighthearted and upbeat tone that will appeal to a wide age range of viewers and will be highly marketable. You also have a clear and distinct voice, and while reminiscent of other popular sci-fi stories, "Solarpunks" felt unique and interesting."

"On a deeper level, the real strength of this script is felt in the relationships between the characters, and the dialogue. The dialogue felt realistic throughout, and appropriate to the ages of the characters. It was also well balanced with moments of humor and slang juxtaposed with moments of deeper feeling and true emotion between the characters."
