THE MAN IN THE BROWN LEATHER COAT
By Phil Bridge

GENRE: Drama
LOGLINE:

3 siblings, journey across Europe to investigate claims their deceased Father has been spotted, alive and well, and living in a remote Fjord village in Norway, guided only by a rumour and a supposed photograph of their father.

SYNOPSIS:

What would it take to change your faith?

William Lockton died before his 3 children, Izzy, Layla and Lucas turned 12. They know he died; they went to his funeral.

However, when they get together to mark the 20th anniversary of his death, their faith and relationships are tested, after a stranger arrives claiming to be a friend of their fathers, with a recent photo and an even more impossible claim: that their father is still alive. The mystery deepens when, the following day, the old man dies, leaving no further clues about his claims.

Following his funeral, the siblings receive a strange invitation from the old man’s sister; to visit his home before it is sold. Once there, they come across another photograph, of their father, much younger, outside a wooden cabin, on a lake in a fjord in Norway.

Together, they must discover who the stranger was and convince each other of the possibility that the dead, may have returned!

They travel to the small, remote village of Valste in Norway, where the photo was taken, to investigate. Once there, they discover they are not welcome in a village where people refuse to talk about William or what he did there. Befriended by the daughter of the local bar owner, they attempt to piece together the facts, and separate the truth from the lies. But within the beautiful frozen landscape, a small group of villagers hide a dark and dangerous secret, a secret worth killing for; the truth.

Elaborate hoax, or the confused ramblings of a lonely old man? What they find there, will cause them to question everything they knew about their father, and their family; forever.
