About Tara

Washington native, Tara Emerson is a versatile actress and writer who has acted in over 40 films and television shows, as well as multiple theater projects. Her wide acting range has allowed her to excel not only in comedy, but drama as well, both genres for which she has garnered numerous awards.

A sucker for romance flicks, Tara most recently wrote, produced and starred in the award winning romantic short film “A Song for Kate,” walking away with the audience awards for “Best Short Film-Drama” and “Best Actress” at the renowned Playhouse West Film Festival. She also starred in the multiple Emmy-Award winning Gordon Bressack’s film, "Keeper", for which she won Best Actress at the Best Actor in Film festival, San Francisco.

Her fascination for the world of new-age spirituality led her to write and star in the mockumentary "Enlightened" (Directed by Paul Pedreira, of "My Name is Earl" and "Grimm" fame) which not only won best short film at the Louisville International Film Festival, but won Tara a best supporting actress nomination at Mockfest in Los Angeles.

She also does hosting work, conducting red carpet interviews for film premieres and also acted as the Mistress of Ceremonies for the Monaco International Film Festival 4 years in a row.
She studied at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, JD Lewis’ master class "The Actor’s Lab," and was Meisner trained at Playhouse West Los Angeles.

As a writer, four of Tara’s scripts have been produced, including a dark comedy called “It’s My Party” which received distribution through horror phenom James Cullen Bressack’s Psykik Junky Pictures. Her hilarious mockumentary, “Enlightened,” starring David H. Lawrence (Heroes), Paul Schulze (Nurse Jackie) and Jonathan Slavin (Better Off Ted), walked away with the grand prize of “Best Short Film Comedy” at the prestigious Louisville International Film Festival. She also penned a feature film currently in pre-production. Additionally, she has co-written 2 feature films and 2 televison pilots which are currently being prepped to be shopped.

Additionally, Tara is currently producing the ninth episode of Quarantine Diaries, the outrageously funny web series she created on her YouTube channel (with over seven thousand subscribers) starring NCIS New Orleans’ actors Necar Zadegan and Rob Kerkovich which has already received over 100,000 views.

When not making films, Tara travels the world in search for the ultimate non-tourist experience. Because of this desire to connect with the people and genuine culture of the places she visits, she now has friends in Africa, India, Fiji, China, Korea, and Europe. Tara has an incredibly fulfilling life alongside her husband of 14 years, and together they foster and adopt dogs who are in desperate need of a loving home.
