Expand commentMonicia, This is problematic. First, the normal course is for producers to option your script, pursuant to terms and conditions agreed upon ahead of time, and then to develop it, package it and either sell it or produce it. If he is trying to broker your script and raise money for you or otherwise set up a deal with a different producer, then he should be working off of commission, normally around 5% (but it depends on the budget and ultimate financing secured), and not off of upfront money. If his contacts are real and he feels confident, then he should be excited for a commission deal. So, you are right about upfront money scenarios, and I would be skeptical. Second, having him do re-writes is also problematic since you will then have copyright and ownership issues. Whatever text or content he adds to the script will belong to him, and then he will be considered a co-owner of the new script, so to speak. Without having him sign off on a release that ensures all creative work put into will belong to you, and not to him, this could jeopardize your clear title to the new script. Hope it helps. Tre
Great tip Tre I ran into that as well
Monica -- you're the writer. Producers pay YOU.
