Jeff Rector is an award-winning filmmaker, his feature film “Revamped”, which he wrote, directed and produced, is currently being distributed worldwide and is available on Netflix, Blockbuster Video and Google Play. “Revamped” is a feature length version of his first short film “Fatal Kiss”, which won awards for “Best Screenplay”, “Best Director”, “Best Actor” and “Best Picture”. “Fatal Kiss” was one of the first short films ever acquired by HBO for worldwide broadcast. “Pray Another Day”, Jeff’s second film as writer, director and producer, won awards for “Best Director” and “Best Music”. His next project is the ski and snowboarding comedy “SnowBunnies”.
On television, Jeff directed, produced and hosted the entertaining Sci-fi news show SFN: Science Fiction News for PBS which covered everything from behind-the-scenes coverage of genre TV and film projects to Comic Con to Red Carpet interviews and Premiers. On-the-Air, Jeff wrote, produced and hosted 88 episodes of his own live Radio show, “Out There with Jeff Rector” which focused on the entertainment side of the science fiction, fantasy and horror genres. Show topics included everything from television, film and book reviews, to celebrity interviews, to ghosts, aliens, monsters and everything in-between.
As a working actor, Jeff has appeared in over 30 feature films, most recently the SYFY channel original movie “Tentacles” co-starring with Linda Hamilton (The Terminator Films) and John Savage (Deerhunter). Other films include SYFY channel’s “Dinocroc vs Supergator” with (David Carradine), ”Alone in the Woods” (with Michael Madsen) for HBO Family, “Winged Creatures” (with Kate Beckinsale) for Sony Pictures and the detective thriller “Dark World” (with Michael Pare’ and Theresa Russell). Other notable features include the action/thriller “Trapped” for Lifetime, the Sci-fi/action film “Solar Flare” and the Lions Gate supernatural thriller “The Black Gate”.
On television, Jeff’s many credits include “How I Met Your Mother”, “The Bold & The Beautiful”, ”Beverly Hills 90210”, “True Jackson VP”, “Everybody Hates Chris”, ”One Life To Live” and recurring roles on “Gene Simmons Family Jewels” and “Black Scorpion” to name a few. Other notable TV credits include “Saints and Sinners”, “Veronica Mars”, “Punk’d”, Nick Cannon’s sketch comedy series “Short Circuitz”, “Star Trek: The Next Generation” and a pivotal character in the “NYPD Blue” episode that won Gordon Clapp an Emmy Award.
Jeff is the President and Festival Director for The Burbank International Film Festival and holds memberships with the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Artists For Human Rights, and is the official spokesman for the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films that produce the annual Saturn Awards. Jeff also served his community for five years as a Councilman for The Greater Toluca Lake Neighborhood Council.
Jeff is also a Stand-up Comedian, Spokesman and is an active participant and Emcee for many charity events. Jeff is a long time supporter of such organizations as The Ronald McDonald House, The Muscular Dystrophy Association, The National Heart Foundation, The Special Olympics, The Frontline Foundation, The Boys and Girls Clubs of America and is a proud sponsor of the U.S. Olympic Team.
