Oscar Barby

Oscar started his film career in post-production in 2007 in Cape Town, South Africa. He earned his stripes in an MCR, moving into online and offline editing; and then finally post-production supervision, notable for The Invincibles and Sea Point Days both broadcast internationally in 2010.

He setup his first production company in 2009, Resolution Films, where he directed and produced web videos, music videos, live recordings, commercials and a small Nollywood style film The Profiteers in 2011.

Taking a brief hiatus from 2011 until 2013 to work in London, he returned to writing and filmmaking in 2014, writing and directing a short film, Scribblings. Scribblings was a hit on the festival circuit; showcasing in Cannes, was a semi-finalist in Miami, part of the official selection for Africa International Film Festival in 2015 as well as winning a screenwriting award at KS Film Festival and being selected at many other film festivals worldwide.

Since that time, he has devoted himself to writing full-time, having two feature films in production, a TV series in development and a collection of children’s books being published this year, whilst continuing to win awards and recognition for his unproduced screenplays.
