About Mackenzie

MACKENZIE KRISTJON is an all-around creative force who won his first national songwriting competition as a teenager and has never stopped writing. He has toured through Canada and Europe with TMD and with chamber-pop group Barzin. His entire catalogue is available at and the newer songs are at all the usual streaming services. He also acts in very obscure cable television shows. And he's published a few books.

MUSIC: Singer/songwriter who performs under the brand THIS MAD DESIRE.. In 2018, Mackenzie was featured on the covers of four magazines/newspapers in two countries and three languages (English, French, and Icelandic). His video for Operators Are Standing By attracted some attention in 2017 and was seen 200,000 times on youtube. His subsequent videos for the bilingual single Paris of Love | Paris Amoureux (that's right! TWO songs and TWO videos!) came out in 2018 and was followed by a tour that took Mac back to the country of his family's origin: Iceland.

ACTING: In the acting world, Mackenzie has been doing acting gigs in the Toronto and Hamilton area for the last few years. His usual background agent is GHA Talent.

WRITING/PUBLISHING: In the past few years, Mackenzie has written articles for the Logberg-Heimskringla (Icelandic paper), Urbanicity Magazine (Hamilton, Ontario), and Raise The Hammer (online blog from Hamilton for which he primarily does theatre reviews). He has also recently released a new poetry collection called We Are All Things And All People which is available on Amazon. The first book he ever published was a collaboration with his mother: The Culinary Saga of New Iceland which went on to win two national cookbook awards.

I am launching a fake presidential campaign to coincide with the release of my new album American Dream and will need various actors, volunteers, camera people, social media assistance, etc. etc. just like a real presidential campaign would have except we will be completely fake for the era of fake news. We will stage some fake political events (that will also have music and dancing involved).

One of the key planks of our platform is that we are going to eradicate sadness. This is one of the many, many things that people are going to absolutely be thrilled about when they hear our message. I can already here people sighing, "It's about time that someone eradicated sadness."

We are also considering eliminating Mondays because no one seems to like them.
