Making of Go and Tell- Animation Case Study

Most of what I share is a lagging indicator of where my career is headed. Even though I worked on this project some months ago, reviewing the documentation is so refreshing. It's easy to forget how much work goes into these things! I actually created this case study with a non-technical audience in mind so I'm excited to share it far and wide and I hope you'll enjoy it! "Go and Tell" is the story of a girl who wants to share the Gospel with her friends, but she's too shy to do it.

Stories have the power to heal

I believe that Stories have the power to heal! If stories are medicine, then Animation is the ideal delivery method. My name is Law Jackson and I'm a Multimedia Producer for my freelance business Kinetic Text. As an 80's kid it was my dream to be an animator. Back then, you had to know how to draw really, REALLY well to animate. If you couldn't draw- you couldn't animate! As you can imagine a lot has changed over the years and animation became more and more dependent on technology- which was a good thing! But, over time, animation, like the other arts became more commoditized so to stand out I found myself needing to get better at storytelling- because no one really cares what method of easing you're using on your interpolated keyframes. Over the last few years the focus of my craft has shifted to Storytelling. Animation can create a safe space to teach the lasting, bigger picture lessons without the short term pain we experienced to learn 'em. And that's just one of the things animation can do! Animation is ideal for conveying complex, sensitive topics compassionately, yet effectively.

Ready Set Moore- Character Case Study

There is something magical about a large project. When you give up so much time, attention and effort on an endeavor it's not a stretch to say that you've birthed something very real. Add in the collaborative dynamic and that means sharing something very powerful with dozens of other people. When I page through the drawings, hear the music and see the characters, I catch glimpses of people I met with, hallways I walked through and emotions I felt over the months of development. It is with this powerful sentiment that I share a brief case study of "Ready, Set, Moore."
